Meet Megan: Math coach, boxer puppy owner, travel buff. She runs, she lifts, she brings happiness to all in the gym. She connects people with her fun loving nature and organizes the group when necessary. This month marks 1 year of training at Blue Wave Fit.

What brought you to Blue Wave?

I was a member of the Y for years, but became bored with the workouts and wasn’t feeling challenged anymore.  I knew Priscilla from the Y and loved taking her classes and doing workouts with her, as she always pushed me!  When I heard her and Brian were opening a gym, I thought I’d give it a shot.

First impressions

Initially, I was intimidated by the small group training classes.  The lingo, the barbells and big weights, the competitions, the muscles!  I thought CrossFit style was just for really muscular, die-hard fitness gurus, not for the average Joe.  Now, I realize that this type of training helps people from all walks of life to become stronger, more flexible, and overall more fit.

Favorite WOD (workout of the day)?

It’s difficult to choose just one!  I enjoy all the workouts where we’re encouraging and praising each other, pushing each other to do just 1 more rep, just 1 more rep.  It’s so much more fun when you work out with friends, and I always feel better afterwards.

Telling Others

I would reassure them that while this type of training seems intimidating, it’s truly not.  We’re not all lifting 200 pounds over our heads.  We all have our strengths and weaknesses.  The coaches will adapt the workouts to your skill level, and will help you through it all.

What’s Next?

My next overarching goal in my training is to be able to do all the workouts as prescribed, and not have to scale any of the movements.
