Meet Christine: She is a 43 yr old mother of three. Her oldest daughter is a freshman in college and she has boy/girl twins (twin teenagers!) who are 14. She has worked at Waste Management of Florida for over 23 years as a billing manager and has lived in Ocala since she was 5 years old.
During high school and her college days, she was very active with Cheerleading. However becoming a parent and a working woman has made sticking to an exercise program a challenge. Sometimes with her work schedule, traveling and her children she finds it hard to fit everything in.
Despite her full plate, she has been exercising at Blue Wave Fit for almost a year and has done things she never thought she would, including a 235 pound deadlift and a handstand push up! I got a chance to talk with her a little about her time at the box… (by Priscilla Jones)
The Opportunity
My sister in law came for an introductory call and was telling me about it. I had been looking to join a gym again, so I decided to attend Blue Wave with her. Having a work our partner in the beginning was nice because sometimes I feel intimidated when starting a new gym and new people.
The Change
After my very first class, which the warm up was enough to kill me, I thought there is no way I will be able to do this. Thought I was too old and CrossFit was out of my reach. Now after about 9 months, I have a different attitude. Now I just keep pushing and gaining strength and cardio endurance class by class.
The Challenge
Just try it! Blue Wave has been a great experience with getting back into fitness. Not only do the coaches help you learn the correct way to exercise but they also push and truly care about you as a person, not just a member. Even the other members that attend encourage you and want to see you do your best. Blue Wave is more than just a gym, and everyone makes you feel like their friend.
The Future
I would like to lose about 15 pounds. In order to do this I need to focus more on my eating habits and stay consistent with my workout schedule. Just looking forward to accomplishing more physical exercises that I never thought I could do at my age.
