When growing up, if you were told the nursery rhyme Little Miss Muffet, you may have been puzzled by the line “eating her curds and whey.” Well… me too! Curds and whey were not words we used much growing up. But since that time, the fitness industry has made a name for the word “Whey” and in this email, I talk about how YOU can use this milk derivative protein to help your body BUILD and KEEP lean mass.

I also shed light on its lesser known sister protein, Casein (spoiler alert… it’s in Miss Muffet’s curds). This slow absorbing protein serves its purpose, and knowing the difference between them, may very well help you through a plateau on building strength and lean mass.

Before the cries of “Well, I don’t want to bulk up!” start erupting, I implore you to keep an open mind. Supplementing your diet with some protein doesn’t equate to becoming a meat head. In fact, it is the over eating of carbohydrates that stumbles most who are trying to lean up.

To further my case, here are 5 OTHER reasons why a protein supplement will benefit you:

1- Provides repair when you don’t sleep enough.
2- Improves your workout ability over the long term.
3- Causes you to feel full longer because it takes the body longer to process it.
4- Increases bone health and helps buffer from osteoporosis.
5- Represents a healthy alternative to a milkshake. (especially if you are just CRAVING one!)

Each video is about 3 minutes long and shares:
1- What is it?
2- Where is it from?
3- What does it do?
4- How should you consume it?
5- Criteria for finding a good one

Like most things, knowledge can be powerful. Understanding what you are eating can help you understand why you feel the way you do. If you’re sluggish- there’s a reason. If you have energy- there’s a reason! If you make the investment to learn about how to fuel your body, you will reap the rewards of getting more out of it… and it lasting longer. Just like a car, if you take care of it, you will be able to drive it for a long time. Let us do the same with the one body we get for our lifetime!

Keep moving!
