The Nine Fundamental Movements of CrossFit

When Greg Glassman set out to design an exercise program that was broad in scope, he incorporated weight training, gymnastics and metabolic conditioning movements. After years of testing and receiving feedback, nine exercises became the backbone of CrossFit: the fundamental movements.

Listed below is a demo video of each one. Your challenge as an athlete is to not only learn them, but to master them, to develop “virtuosity” in each of the movements. CrossFit sometimes can get really complex and complicated. It doesn’t have to though. Returning to the basics, and mastering them, will undergird your athletic pursuits of trying new and challenging movements, and adding sport into your weekly routine.
