Food for Thought with Nutrition Coach Coley Haas

Saying No

How many of you have a problem saying no to sweets and the sodas in the lunch room at work?

It’s always followed by an excuse to make you feel better about why you ate the cupcake or drank the Pepsi. I’m not saying the excuses aren’t true, I’m saying you can get past that.

Start today, write down every excuse on why you can’t stop a habit.

For example, your habit might be a soda everyday with lunch. To change that you could buy a pack of seltzer water and bring that for lunch. One soda a day for a week is 280 grams of sugar and don’t even think diet soda is better for you, diet soda increases your appetite!

Once you say No a couple of times, the people around you understand what you will and will not take. No one at my work will offer me a donut or a candy, and if I’m having a bad day and want to throw a thousand excuses on why I deserve the one little candy, they won’t let me.

When you change how you think about one habit, it changes your entire day. If you can do something for 30 days why can’t you do it for a lifetime?

If you’re looking for some structure and accountability, come see me. I meet with people each week for FREE “Hungry for Help” consultations. It might be just what you need to move you toward your goal.

Keep moving,
Coley
