Growing up I spent the summers with my cousins at the family lake house in Georgia. The word “house” is stretching it a bit, but as kids we didn’t care about air conditioning, chiggers and just one bathroom. In total, there are seven of us cousins, all girls except for the youngest. Poor him. One summer, when we were old enough, our parents and aunts and uncles took us out on the boat to learn how to water ski. I am the second oldest, so I got to hide behind my older cousin who showed steer for a serious hobby and lived on a farm. I can remember the butterflies that flew in my stomach as we set out for our first round of training. The oldest jumped into the lake with her trainer (i.e. Uncle) and after three or four attempts, successfully stood and circled the length of the small slough in which our boating lives revolved. Then, it was my turn.

I wish I could say I was bold and up for the challenge, but I shrank from the opportunity. I was afraid of failing and of being shown up by my older cousin AND younger sister and cousins. With life jacket elevated to my ears and wooden skies clumsily knocking together, I took a deep breath and held the rope. My uncle told me that at first the boat would accelerate to a slow pace so I could feel the drag of the water and learn to hold my skies straight. Once I had gotten the hang of it, the boat would rapidly speed up and all I had to do was hold on. Sounds easy. In considering to try training at Blue Wave, the “No Sweat Intro” is the same thing.

You come in, put on the life jacket and cruise around at a slow speed so you get used to the idea that you’re doing something different and out of your comfort zone. After a little while, it doesn’t feel so different anymore. If you think you aren’t sure about training here, try the “No Sweat Intro”. You’ll be surprised. If you’re afraid someone younger than you, or worse, older than you is going to show you up at the workout, sign up for the “No Sweat Intro”. It will ease your mind and eliminate competition.

We’ve all experienced that moment when you realize that something must change with your exercise routine and eating habits. You’re tired of tight clothes, heart burn, and well, being tired. The question is: How can I make this change? And, can I really succeed?  This is where the Blue Wave Fit “No Sweat Intro” plays its role. Maybe you’re looking to drop some weight; fit back into your old clothes. Maybe you’d like to relive the glory days of catching the big pass or shooting the winning basket. Maybe you’d just like to bend over and tie your shoes. Whatever the case, the “No Sweat Intro” gives you an opportunity to clarify what you want and decide whether what we offer at Blue Wave will help you along.

Spend twenty minutes with us and share where you want to go with your health and fitness. We will show you why we are so passionate about helping our community get fit and where you might fit in. That’s it. No sales pitch. No pushy tactics. Just a conversation. After that you can decide if you want the boat to switch gears.

What are you waiting for? Let’s get started…

By the way, I did learn to ski. It took more tries than my cousin. But I figured it out.
