I have been active my whole life. As a kid I loved playing soccer and outdoor games with neighborhood friends. I ran cross country, played soccer and swam in high school. I started working with weights in college after a severe ankle injury while playing basketball. I soon found that I really enjoyed moving heavy things and the fun of working out with close friends. From then on I maintained a regimen of both weight training and endurance running.
After many years of boring and honestly, unproductive training in a “regular gym”, I finally discovered CrossFit in the middle of 2012 and knew immediately that it was the perfect blend of everything fitness should be. It has strength training to keep you strong. It has gymnastics moves that make you feel like you’re back on the playground in elementary school. It has endurance moves to keep your heart strong. It has teamwork with the group workouts and skill sessions. It has a strong community aspect with the individual coaching attention and shared suffering. So I dove in head first …. and haven’t looked back since.
